This past fall the Kier Construction Corp celebrated their 25th Anniversary (see attached Standard Examiner article: http://www.standard.net/stories/2011/08/12/kier-name-well-known-many-business-circles). UCRC congratulates Steve and Scott Kier and their staff on reaching this milestone. I know their dad – Jim Kier – would be very pleased because it signifies a continuation of high quality service to the community and, in particular, service to those serving low income families and people less fortunate.
I have had the pleasure of working with Steve Kier to make UCRC a better organization through his tenure as a UCRC director beginning in 2008 – just one of many examples of Steve’s contributions to our community. I have also enjoyed working with Kier Construction to realize new and renovated affordable housing throughout Utah from Escalante Apartments (’01) through 15 projects including Westgate I (’02) and II (’05), Redhawk Apartments (’08) and Birkhill (under construction ’11 – ’12). Many of these projects were sponsored by fledgling nonprofits or first time developers of affordable housing who received the extra consideration and service for which Kier Construction is renowned. Kier’s involvement often meant the difference between successful completion and surrender of the tax credits.
Based in Ogden, Utah, Kier Construction Corp. is a family-owned company incorporated in 1986 to manage construction of Kier Corporation properties. Kier is now among the top 15 contractors in Utah and has developed into a diversified general contractor with annual revenues of over $50 million.
